Councillor Sir Ron Watson CBE
Sir Ron Watson CBE has been a Conservative councillor since 1969 and has held most leadership positions, including leader of the council on Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council. He has held a number of roles at the Local Government Association, as deputy chair, chair of the Tourism and Environment Executives, and deputy chair of the Regeneration Board. He is currently vice chair of the Urban Commission. He is a lay member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal, chair of the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust and was, until recently, a member of the UK Delegation to the EU Committee of the Regions. His business background is in tourism and he is a fellow of the Institute of Travel and Tourism and of the Tourism Society.Register of Interests
