The New Ethical Framework for Parish and Town Councils

30 April 2002, Barbican Centre, London

Two hundred parish and town councillors along with clerks, monitoring officers and county secretaries attended the Parish and Town Council conference in London. The Minister for Rural Affairs, Rt. Hon Alun Michael expressed the government's vision for rural communities.

Workshop sessions covered the Role of the Monitoring Officer, the Role of the Ethical Standards Officer, Understanding the Code and the Register of Interests. Speaker and workshop leaders consisted of senior Standards Board staff and a variety of external practitioners from NALC, DTLR, Local Authorities and the County Associations.
